The garbage collection process of the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) operates 5 days per week (suspended on Wednesdays and Sundays) and is carried out through designated collection time and venues based on the principle of “keeping trash off the ground”. Citizens are required to follow the DEP’s garbage truck collection route and dispose general waste, recyclables and kitchen waste, of which general waste should be collected in the City’s special “Per-Bag Trash Collection” garbage bag. Violators shall be reported and penalized according to the law. For detailed garbage collection and transport routes, please visit the DEP official website.
Given that some citizens may not be able to meet the schedule of garbage truck for waste collection and transport at a designated time, the DEP has set up 32 limited-time garbage and resource (kitchen waste) collection points in 12 administrative districts of the City, most of which operate daily between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Citizens are welcomed to visit the DEP website and select the closest limited-time collection point near their homes to dispose the garbage. Citizens should use special “Per-Bag Trash Collection” garbage bags, otherwise the DEP will report them for punishment.
